Gary is a health professional and visionary leader, who has successfully managed a number of different services, in a variety of settings, while initiating change management processes at senior executive and board level. He has provided strategic leadership and insight within both a local and national context for over twenty years. This leadership was often in situations where his ability to have a clear analytical approach ensured solution-focused perspectives being found and implemented, without ignoring the core business, opportunities or personnel involved.
His interpersonal skills enable him to convey necessary information and facts with a passionate motivational flare that includes robust challenge and debate elements. He can assimilate complex information and provide reasoned responses in a relatively short period. Having engaged in a portfolio career, his skills as a health professional, counsellor, mentor, supervisor, trainer, minister, assessor, course developer, senior executive and non-executive director have all enabled others to gain improved individual and corporate learning outcomes. He is professionally committed to embedding good corporate governance and practice in all situations while maintaining a good work-life balance and empowering people to realise their full potential.
He has held a number of significant posts over the years where he has used his knowledge and skills to develop, lead and drive forward companies and realign their service provision into professional, comprehensive organisations that encompass a diverse range of multi-site customer facing services.
Gary has over twenty years’ experience as a senior executive, independent professional consultant and non-executive director in health, education, government, statutory bodies, private enterprises and the voluntary sector. He continues to serve the community in multiple capacities within the educational, health and voluntary sectors providing guidance, development and insight to those involved in leadership and to the learners in the community.
However it is not all work and no play for Gary, as he thoroughly enjoys family times with his children and grandchildren; rugby union & league – but now just spectating, playing golf occasionally & poorly or performing or to listening music of all genres! Indeed he believes it is heaven if there is an opportunity just to sit in front of an open log fire on a cold night with a good book and some background music while enjoying a suitable glass of something nice – or a good night out with a family or friends in a hostelry!
Being married with five children (and more grandchildren!) he has experienced a range of educational pathways being worked through in his own life and family setting. And while he, and his family, hold a number educational and professional qualifications, his diverse career, interests and background mean he has genuine interest and desire for all reach their full potential – and to experience the benefits and joy of Learning For Everyone – Everywhere.
